Partner Portal and GDAP
If you're a managed service provider (MSP), the Partner Portal in Petra helps you deploy and manage Petra's monitoring for your customers' Microsoft 365 tenants in a scalable way. It uses Microsoft's Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP) so you can grant the right level of access without giving blanket admin rights.
What the Partner Portal is for
The Partner Portal lets you connect your Microsoft Partner Center relationship to Petra. Once connected, you can see which customer tenants you manage and use Petra to install or configure monitoring for those tenants. Instead of each customer going through a separate Microsoft consent flow, you can use your existing partner relationship to deploy Petra's monitoring app into customer tenants and grant it the permissions it needs. That makes it easier to onboard many customers and keep management centralized.
How GDAP fits in
GDAP (Granular Delegated Admin Privileges) is a Microsoft feature that lets partners get time-limited, scoped access to customer tenants. When you use the Partner Portal with Petra, the product uses GDAP so that the access granted to Petra in each customer tenant is controlled and aligned with what's needed for security monitoring—reading audit logs, sign-in data, and other security-related information—without exposing more than necessary. Microsoft may require you to have certain partner roles or GDAP relationships already in place; Petra's Partner Portal setup will guide you through connecting and authorizing so that Petra can work with your managed tenants.
What you'll see in the Portal
After the Partner Portal is set up and connected, you'll see a view of your managed tenants (the customer tenants linked through your partner relationship). From there you can see which ones are already onboarded to Petra and which are available to onboard. The exact steps to connect a specific customer tenant may include selecting the tenant and completing any required consent or approval in Microsoft's portal. Once a tenant is linked, it will appear in your main tenant list in Petra and you can use it like any other tenant—view incidents, reports, and logs—with access governed by your GDAP and partner setup.
If the Partner Portal option isn't visible, it may need to be enabled for your organization. Check with your Petra administrator or support to confirm that the Partner Portal feature is available and that your Microsoft Partner Center relationship is in good standing.
