Inviting members and managing access

Your organization in Petra can have multiple members—teammates who sign in and use the product. You can invite new members and control what they can see and do by assigning roles and, in some cases, limiting which tenants they can access. This article explains how member management works from a user's perspective.

Inviting new members

Members are invited to your organization (not to individual tenants). An administrator or someone with permission to manage members can send an invite, usually by email. The invitee receives a link or instructions to sign in to Petra and join your organization. Until they accept and complete sign-in, they won't have access. Once they're in, they'll see the organization's tenants and data according to their role and any tenant restrictions you've set.

Roles and what they mean

Petra uses roles to control what members can do. A full member (or similar role) typically can access all tenants in the organization, view and triage incidents, run reports, change settings, and invite or manage other members as allowed by your org. A partial member (or restricted role) may only have access to certain tenants—for example, a subset of customers an MSP supports. That way, analysts or support staff can work on the tenants they're responsible for without seeing others. Administrators have the highest level of control and can manage organization settings, billing, and member access.

The exact role names and options may vary slightly depending on your organization's configuration. What matters is that you can assign people to roles that match their job: full access for those who need it, limited access for those who should only see specific tenants or perform specific tasks.

Managing access over time

You can update a member's role or tenant access as their responsibilities change. If someone leaves the team, you can remove their access so they can no longer sign in or see organization data. Keeping the member list and roles up to date helps ensure that only the right people have access to your tenants and incidents, which is especially important for MSPs handling multiple customers' data.

Access and member management are usually found under your organization's settings—often under a section like "Access" or "Members." If you don't see those options, you may need a higher role or an administrator to make changes for you.
